Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
1. About Us
1.1 The website www.electricsporran.com (“the site”) is run by Electric Sporran Ltd (“Electric Sporran”, “we”, “us” and “our”). We are registered in Scotland under company number SC886423, and our registered office is at Office 397, Unit LGE, 18 Young Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4JB.
1.2 We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy, under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1.3 This policy covers the site. Our games and apps each have their own privacy policy, linked from their page on the site.
2. The Short Version
- We collect only what you give us through our contact forms and newsletter sign-up, and what any web server records when you visit.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we serve our own fonts.
- We never sell your data, and we never share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you at any time, free of charge.
3. What We Collect, and Why
3.1 When you write to us. Our contact form and our design services enquiry form ask for your name, your email address and your message (and, on the contact form, the kind of enquiry). We use these only to reply to you and, for a design enquiry, to discuss and provide the work you ask about. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us, and, for design work, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. The forms are delivered to us by Formspree (see section 5). If you email us directly, the same applies.
3.2 When you join our newsletter. We ask for your email address and which lists you would like (for example, Inkwell Cove announcements or the studio newsletter). We use it only to send you those emails. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email, or by contacting us. Our newsletter is run by Brevo (see section 5), which may record whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, so that we can see which news is of interest.
3.3 Keeping out spam. Pages with our newsletter sign-up use Google reCAPTCHA to tell people from automated programs. To do this, Google collects information about your device and browser and how you use the page, which includes your IP address. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our forms and mailing list from abuse. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to its use of this information.
3.4 When you visit. Like any website, the server that hosts our site keeps a short-term record of requests to it, which includes your IP address, the pages you asked for, your browser type and the time. This is used to keep the site running and secure, and is our legitimate interest. Our site is hosted by Krystal (see section 5).
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
4.1 We don’t set any cookies of our own.
4.2 If you choose a different set of ink colours using the strip at the side of the page, your browser remembers your choice until you close the tab, so that every page is printed in the same inks. It is stored only in your browser (in “session storage”) and is never sent to us.
4.3 On pages with our newsletter sign-up, Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies and read information from your browser for the purpose described in clause 3.3, and our sign-up form is loaded from Brevo’s servers, which receive your IP address when the page loads.
4.4 You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. If you block those used by reCAPTCHA, the newsletter sign-up may not work, but the rest of the site will.
5. Who We Share It With
5.1 We use a few trusted companies to run the site. They handle your data on our behalf, under contract, and only as we instruct:
- Krystal Hosting Ltd (United Kingdom): hosts the site.
- Formspree, Inc. (United States): receives our contact and enquiry forms and delivers them to us.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) (France): runs our newsletter sign-up and sends our newsletter. See Brevo’s Privacy Policy.
- Google LLC (United States): provides reCAPTCHA, as described in clause 3.3.
5.2 We may also share personal data if the law requires it, to protect the rights, property or safety of Electric Sporran, our users or others, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business, in which case the buyer would be bound by this policy.
5.3 We never sell your personal data, and we never share it with anyone for their own marketing.
6. Data Sent Outside the UK
6.1 Formspree and Google may process data in the United States, and Brevo in the European Union. Where data leaves the UK, it is protected by safeguards that UK law recognises, such as UK adequacy regulations (which cover the EU, and US companies certified under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or the UK’s approved standard contractual clauses.
7. How Long We Keep It
- 7.1 Messages and enquiries: up to two years after we last hear from you, unless they lead to work together, in which case we keep business records for six years, as UK tax law requires.
- 7.2 Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only a note of your email address marked as unsubscribed, so that you are never emailed again by mistake.
- 7.3 Server records: only for as long as our host keeps them for running the site and keeping it secure.
8. Keeping It Safe
8.1 The site is served over an encrypted connection, and we choose providers who keep data secure. No system is perfectly secure, but if something ever went wrong that put your data at risk, we would tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office where the law requires us to.
9. Your Rights
9.1 Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is wrong, or deleted;
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our using it;
- receive it in a form you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it (as for the newsletter).
9.2 To use any of these rights, contact us. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month.
9.3 If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would be grateful for the chance to put things right first.
10. Children
10.1 Our site is not aimed at children under 13, and we ask that they don’t sign up to our newsletter or send us personal information. If you believe a child has done so, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Other Websites
11.1 Our site links to other websites and services, such as our pages on social networks. They have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Please check their policies before giving them any personal data.
12. Changes to This Policy
12.1 If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you before it takes effect.
13. Contact
13.1 Questions and requests about this policy are welcome. Please send them through our contact form, or write to us at our registered office: Electric Sporran Ltd, Office 397, Unit LGE, 18 Young Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4JB.
